The tour is worth the price

“Wow!! Amazing working mine which has so much history. Tours are well organised by language and cater for a range of native speakers. Groups are of a good size to see and guides scheduled breaks during the tour. The mines are truly stunning and the main chapel is a sight to be held. The admission price whilst high, is worth it. You can also benefit from a tour of the museum which is included in the price. There are plenty of gift shops and stalls to buy souvenirs.”

Tour guides are fun and provide interesting facts

“What a thrill venturing 130 metres all the way down to the underground chapel! The sacred crafts and preservations are just spectacular! So many rooms on the way there and each offering very distinct experiences. Our guide in English she was cool, patient and awesome too, thus making the tour all the more enjoyable!”

Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour may be claustrophobic for some people

Janowice Chamber

“Very beautiful experience but not the best for anyone claustrophobic. To be honest I don’t know the prices as the entrance was bought as a gift. Amazing history, sculptures. You will walk down the stairs to reach the lowest level but you will go the way up in elevators. They have a nice souvenir shop on the way out. Definitely recommend.”

The salt mine is very accomodating for different needs

“The tourist path was really nice, our guide was informative and was able to answer all of our questions. We saw every important pace in the mine, learnt about the history of the mine and Poland. The more “advanced” guide which this pace also offers takes you into the actual active salt mine, you can even mine some of your own salt. There is also a wheelchair/disabled guide where you can still see most of the important places but is on a heavily modified route.”

John Paul II Statue in St Kinga Chapel in Wieliczka Salt Mine

“Absolutely fantastic. We did the miners route, which is always guided by a former or current miner. Our guide Marek was absolutely brilliant, guiding us through the original tunnels and tunnels that are still in use. We got dressed in workers clothing, given a lamp and worked our way through the mines for around 2 hours. Cannot recommend the experience more highly!”

Krakow Salt Mine reviews: “Worth a trip at least once!”

“We took a guided tour from Krakow which we booked well in advance. We were a small group and there was no waiting to get in. The tour took about 2 hours and there were about 500 steps to go down the 3 levels that are accessible to the public. Fortunately there is a small lift to take you back to the surface and it only takes 45 seconds.

The Chambers and carvings were amazing. A must do tour for Krakow!”

“Was a unique experience exploring the depths of the mine and you really get a sense for the size of the mine when your told that the tour only covers 1% of it. We finished the tour and had lunch in the restaurant. The restaurant serves high quality home made food and very reasonable prices considering it’s a tourist attraction ! Would highly recommend!”

Wieliczka and Auschwitz in one day?

Did you know that two of the most important tourist destinations in Poland are only an hour’s drive away from each other? Even if you’re on a short city break to Krakow, you can take a one day trip to Wieliczka and Auschwitz Museums:

“We had a fantastic experience visiting the Salt Mines and the Auschwitz camps. Our tour guide really made the day for us. It ended up being just my partner and I, and Leo was a great source of information. Communication before the trip was excellent, our driver turned up on time and literally collected and dropped us off outside the door. He was knowledgeable about the days events ensuring we had everything we needed and the day was so lovely being able to just take it all in and not worry about the logistics. He also gave us excellent local recommendations and even booked our evening restaurant for us!”
