City tours Krakow Old Town, Kazimierz, Ghetto and Nowa Huta

Our standard city tours Krakow include Old Town, Kazimierz and Podgorze with Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory. In Krakow Old town you can see the largest of all medieval Market Squares in Europe, unique Cloth Hall where merchants gathered to trade the most exotic products, centuries-old churches with magnificent interiors, narrow cobbled streets with rows of colourful townhouses along them. You can take a break in one of many intimate cafes or on a bench in Planty park that surrounds the Old Town.

Then, our driver takes you to foothills of the Wawel Royal Castle – the cradle of Polish state. The Renaissance royal residence spreads across the Wawel Hill, where accordingly to the legend, a frightful Wawel Dragon lived. From the Castle you can see another of our city tours Krakow district – former Jewish Quarter, Kazimierz.

Once the most vibrant Jewish culture hub in this part of Europe is now a sleepy district, where real treasures of Jewish tradition are hidden. Numerous cafes and restaurants in Kazimierz cultivate the original Jewish culture. Also synagogues in Kazimierz are worth visiting. All of them were destroyed during World War II, but in recent years were restored to their former glory and serve either as prayer houses or exhibition spaces that provide information about the history of Jews in Poland. Following traces of Jewish history, you can visit Podgorze district, where ghetto was located between 1941 and 1943.

The most popular on our private van city tours Krakow district is Nowa Huta. What is now a district of Krakow was once supposed to be a communist dream come true. Built in the 1950s, this city was a Stalinist utopia that eventually failed to meet its purpose. It is now a sad reminder of the communist era but also an interesting example of a coherent and utilitarian urban concept with socialist realism architecture.
