Wieliczka Salt Mine tours - further information
Wieliczka Salt Mine is the only mining facility in the world functioning continuously since the Middle Ages. Salt Mine tours from Krakow rank among the most popular and Wieliczka Salt Mine draws attention of more than one million visitors each year. Established in the 13th century by Polish king Casimir III the Great, it was the biggest provider of salt in Poland. Being one of the oldest and the largest salt mines in the world, Wieliczka Salt Mine saw entire generations of local miners who created a unique community underground. Today, miners no longer work Wieliczka, but this original underground complex is preserved in a great condition. Wieliczka is a world-class monument among all of Poland Salt Mines.
