What to Expect? Day Itinerary
Morning pickup from your Krakow hotel
We’ll collect you from your hotel in Krakow in a modern, comfortable Mercedes. The scenic drive to the Tatra Mountains takes around 2 hours, depending on traffic, and an English-speaking guide accompanies you throughout the day.
Guided snowmobile tour (1 hour)
After a safety briefing, you’ll set off on a one-hour guided ride across snow-covered fields and forest trails in the Tatra foothills – away from public roads, which is exactly why no driving licence is needed. Your guide leads the group at a comfortable pace, helps first-timers get confident with the machine and leaves time for photos set against a panoramic winter landscape. Sharing a snowmobile? You can swap drivers mid-route whenever you like.
Unforgettable Highlander bonfire with local delicacies
Warm up by a traditional Highlander bonfire with grilled sausage, oscypek (the region’s famous smoked sheep’s milk cheese), hot drinks and a cup of grzane wino (Polish mulled wine). Relax after the demanding snowmobile adventure, listen to local Highland stories and admire scenic views of the Tatra Mountains.
Three hours in the thermal baths
The day ends with a 3-hour entry ticket to the thermal baths – Chochołów Thermal Baths or Terma Bania, depending on where you ride that day. After an hour outdoors on a snowmobile, the warm pools are the ideal place to relax before the journey back. Bring a swimsuit, flip-flops and a towel; rentals are available on site.
Return to Krakow from day tour
After the thermal baths, we drive you back to Krakow and drop you off at your hotel – around 10 hours after we set off.
Price & Ride Fee
The tour price covers round-trip transport from Krakow, your guide, the bonfire with food and the 3-hour thermal baths ticket. The snowmobile ride fee is not included – it’s paid separately on site, in cash only, and is non-refundable. Current prices: tour from 89 EUR per person; ride fee 400 PLN per snowmobile. Two people can share one machine, and the fee is charged per vehicle, so a driver-and-passenger pair pays it once. Already in Zakopane? You don’t need to organise snowmobile rental yourself. A ticket-only option without Krakow transport is available in the booking calendar. You’ll see the full breakdown in the booking summary before you confirm – no surprises on the day.
Do I Need a Driving Licence?
No. The ride takes place on private fields and off-road forest trails, so no driving licence or prior experience is required. Drivers must be 18 or over and show photo ID (ID card, passport or driving licence) on the day for age verification. Passengers don’t need any documents.
Riding Together, Passengers & Children
- Two on one snowmobile: yes – every machine takes a driver and a passenger, and two adults can swap behind the handlebars mid-route.
- Children: minors join as passengers only. There’s no formal minimum age, but we recommend passengers are around 10 or older so they can hold on to the driver securely. Adults in the group are responsible for supervising children who aren’t currently riding.
What Happens If There Isn’t Enough Snow?
Snowmobiling is fully snow-dependent. The local operator confirms conditions before your tour, and decides whether you’ll be riding snowmobiles or quad bikes – the route, bonfire and thermal baths go ahead either way. Because snowy conditions are outside anyone’s control, a vehicle switch doesn’t qualify for a date change or cancellation. Prefer quad biking regardless of the weather? See our Zakopane Quad Biking Tour from Krakow.
Best Time to Book Zakopane Snowmobile Tour
Snowmobiling runs whenever there’s enough snow – typically December to February, though November and March rides happen in good snow years. Weekends, Christmas, New Year and UK half-term dates sell out first, so book those early. Deciding last minute? We accept bookings even on the same day – and one spot per day is released at a promotional price, so keep an eye on the calendar.
What to Wear for a Snowmobile Ride?
Helmet and gloves are provided. Everything else is on you – dress warm: thermal base layers, waterproof trousers and jacket, a hat and waterproof boots. A thin pair of your own liner gloves under the provided ones is a good idea, and sunglasses help with the glare off fresh snow. Bring SPF; snow reflects sunlight, so you can get a tan even in the middle of winter. Don’t forget your photo ID.
