Wieliczka Salt Mine is open every day of the year except for:
- New Year’s Day (1 January)
- Easter Sunday
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (24-25 December)

When are Krakow Salt Mines open?
The main Tourist Route is open every day (both weekdays and weekends) between 8 am and 6 pm.
If you’re looking for a unique and adventurous experience, the Miners Route is available between 9 am and 5 pm local time.
The Graduation Tower opens at 9 am and last admissions end at 6 pm.
Salt Mine in Wieliczka tour schedule
For those who want to explore the mine on their own, you should know that wandering underground without a tour guide’s supervision is prohibited. When visiting Wieliczka Salt Mine individually, you’ll probably join one of the schedule group tours.
The Wieliczka salt mine timings are 30 minutes, meaning that guides will take their groups inside the mine in 30 minute intervals. That way the separate groups won’t interrupt each other while watching the exhibitions.

If you’re looking to experience the salt mines without going through crowds, it’s best to avoid the peak season for tourists in Kraków. While going to the mines in the winter is completely fine, we recommend choosing early spring (March-April) or late autumn (October-November) to be able to still enjoy some good weather during the rest of your Krakow city break.
